I'm a social worker by education. I've spent the last 10 years working with low-income families to empower and encourage sustainability and health literacy. I became interested in birth work when I began working on a project to reduce infant mortality. I realized that many birthing persons do not realize all of the decisions that they have to make before, during and after birth. And that they do, and should, have a say in all of these decisions. I want to help families make informed choices that will enhance their birth experience and bring a healthy person into the world safely.
I am super invested in helping folks secure their breast/chestfeeding relationship. Whether you are the birthing person, the adoptive parent, the non-gestational parent or just a supportive partner, we can talk about how to make your lactation journey successful. I successfully induced lactation for my first daughter as the non-gestational parent and am really excited to be able to share my lactation knowledge and journey with others.
Trainings: Certified Birth Doula (DONA), Certified Lactation Counselor (IBCLC exam candidate), Certified Child Birth Educator, Child Passenger Safety Technician, Parents As Teachers Educator, Licensed Master Social Worker
I am also a radical, queer social justice warrior (and proud).
I live in the midwest, married, 2 cats, 1 dog and 2 daughters.
